Japao Private Island is an astounding getaway a mere four miles off the shores of Angra dos Reis and 105 miles west of the bustling city of Rio de Janeiro. A spellbinding region of nearly four hundred Islets comprising two thousand beaches, Japao is a veritable jewel of the Brazilian coastline.
The Island's spectacular main Villa is a masterwork of unadulterated tropical luxury. Palapa thatched rooftops, multi-level terraces, and floor-to-ceiling windows curate a delectable estate perfectly attuned to its awe-inspiring surroundings. Interiors present a delightful fusion of contemporary chic elements and regal tropical panache. Gleaming Brazilian and Balinese hardwood make up the estate, with rugged native stone accent walls imparting a bohemian organicism and earthiness. Dark timber elements and pops of saturated color impart an Oriental dynastic dimension to the gorgeous common areas. Local ceramics and textiles evoke local indigenous traditions. Five fantastic ensuites accommodate ten guests in otherworldly discretion, luxury, and discretion. Adjacent to the Villa is a duplex with a living room on the ground floor and another bedroom and bath upstairs. A trio of independent bungalows with generous bedding, deluxe toiletries, and spa-inspired ensuites are reached via the Island's pathways.

A natural gallery in the central Villa's courtyard is formed by a koi pond and flanked by a giant boulder.
