Villa Kelly is an exceptional home perched above the Snake River. It enjoys captivating views of Grand Teton. Some of the world’s best and most challenging skiing is just minutes away from the property.
The river runs as a theme through the house. Walls of knotty pine in the living room make the house feel warm and friendly. In every room, big plate glass windows follow the ceiling as high as they can go; the clear light and the Wyoming panorama outside pour in. This stunning residence features an open kitchen and family room, divided by a stone-topped bar and workspace, share a second river stone fireplace. Oil paintings in gilded frames hang on the walls; the dining area opens out just behind the sofa, and a door leads to the terrace. Another hub, the rec room, waits on the second floor. Here a sturdy wood pool table, a TV, cocktail table and soft carpeting underfoot create a fine gathering spot. It offers five bedrooms that can comfortably accommodate up to 10 people. The master suite is a big airy room warmed by a wood-burning stone fireplace. An elegant wood king-sized bed rests under a vaulted ceiling supported by thick wood beams. It has two bathrooms, one with a deep oval soaking tub topped by corner windows that look out over the Snake River, and a separate shower. It has three guest rooms on the ground floor: two are grouped about the downstairs living area. Both are simple, quiet bedrooms with private baths; each has a queen bed. The final bedroom is a grand slam of a sleeping area – a wonderful rustic bunkroom that can sleep six and has two bathrooms of its own, a galley kitchen and a door to the lawn.
Outside, the air is filled with the river’s song and the high country breeze. The raised wood decks, the stonewalled terrace, and the wide lawn are outfitted with cushioned, latticed wood chairs and chaises. The big hot tub is an inviting locus on a cold and starry night.
Jackson Hole is a valley encompassed by mountains, a place where the modern spirit of adventure is strong, and a home to some of the rarest wildlife and beautiful vistas of untouched nature. Grand Teton National Park occupies the northwestern part of the valley encompassing the iconic, jagged peaks of the Teton Range. The Town of Jackson sits at the southern end. The Snake River threads through the entire valley from its headwater in Yellowstone National Park.
